One thing I know is that people have a problem with anything. Especially in the U.S. You can name your baby whatever you want. Im black and I have a black American name and people have a problem with it. They feel I should have been named an average white American or European name. And if anyone has a problem with how I label myself you can kick rocks with flip flops.

I think if they’re not Asian and have no connection to the culture then it does look weird. And there is a huge possibility they will be bullied and/or questioned why their parents would give them an Asian name when they’re white and have no connection to the culture whatsoever. But I’m Latina not Asian so, my opinion isn’t really the one that matters lol

Personally I wouldn’t, but its ur choice what u name your child just remember they do have to live with whatever name you choose for life so just make it a decent name that’s what’s important 🩷

I personally wouldn’t choose that name simply because I wouldn’t name my child after a tv character and I don’t think it’s even a good name anyway. 
But in general, I always found it a little weird when people named their kids something they have no connection to. But then again, I also overthink or take kid names seriously lol. I feel like I’m always putting my input on posts like these because some of the name ideas on here are just…not it lol. But I also think it’s off-putting because I’m from Hawai’i and a lot of people not from there give their kids Hawaiian names and don’t know the true meaning or context of the name, or they even give their kid a non-Hawaiian name and say it’s Hawaiian but it’s not (surprisingly, a lot of people think adding lani at the end of a name makes it Hawaiian 🙄🙃), so overtime it’s just become a little pet peeve. Ultimately, if you want to name your kid Deku, that’s your choice, but I think there’s better names to choose (Japanese or not).

I personally feel like it doesn't matter. I know all kinds of Americans with European names, Hispanic Names, Indian Names non jewish people with Hebrew names etc and Asian wouldn't be any different. 🤷🏻‍♀️

In my opinion anyone can name the baby what they want. People name their children after movie characters, goddesses, directions, cities and etc. 
Also the way I see it is, I am White with a small amount of Native American, and I eat/cook Chinese food….I’m not Chinese and have absolutely no connection to it other than it tastes good lol.

Personally, I don’t care what anyone names their baby. Would I myself personally do it? No. But I’m not going to tell someone else they shouldn’t because it’s not my business.

No if you are not connected to the culture in any way I think it’s cultural appropriation 
You think it sounds cool but you sound like a weeb who’s out of touch, you have no ties to the culture, there’s plenty of English names with beautiful meanings .
