I had my baby two months ago and was never able to latch her. I had asked her doctor about maybe a tongue or lip tie. My doctor told me no. That a lot of parents think their kid has one and they don't. Well I'm pretty sure this is a lip tie. Am I right?

My baby just had her lip and tongue revised at 4 weeks with a laser by dr kotlow, who is basically the pioneer in the field of pediatric dentistry/ties. It has made a WORLD of a difference with latching and breast feeding. That is definitely a tie. Often it is common for babies who have a lip tie to have a posterior tongue tie which is very hard to diagnose. Most pediatricians are not well educated on ties either. Even if it isnt revised to help breastfeeding, it has many other effects on children and their speech and oral health. There is a group on Facebook called tongue tied babies support group that I would recommend joining. There is lots of information from mamas and also many providers and lactation consultants are part of the group. There is also a list of "preferred providers" that is organized by state to help you find a qualified professional to see your baby. I paid 650 out of pocket because my pedi would not give me an insurance referral because he didn't think it was necessary. I would do it ten times over if I had to. My supply has increased dramatically and my babies latch is so improved.

Yes it does. My son has one. We didn't know it then tho. He had trouble latching on breast. He's five now and has no trouble talking or anything. But he was a late talker. I would get a second opinion
