How do you deal with racist peoplein your family?

I am a black woman and my moms side of the family is really racist.  My husband is white/ jewish.  I was out to dinner with my cousin and she cant help but say racial slurs to describe Asians, latinas, white people, just about anyone whos not blk.  I Get so tired of listening to her talk crap about all these people ànd use racial slurs.  We cant even enjoy dinner or shopping without something racial being said.  I feel so uncomfortable around her.  How do you deal with racist family members???  Is this the norm in peoples families?  Are all older people really racist and constantly have to voice their disdain for other races 24/7?  I don't get why we cant have a social gathering without racial slurs or comments.  Is everyones family racist, but we don'ttalk about it???

It’s opposite for me. I’m white my husband is black and our children are clearly mixed. I don’t put up with it at all. Of course there’s light hearted dark humor that my husband and i both don’t mind and make jokes but if anyone in my life is seriously racist i cut them out immediately. My grandpa was racist, hated the fact that i married and procreated with outside of my race and i did not speak to him at all. Didn’t even go to his funeral in May because i don’t stand for it at all. If you can’t put your personal opinion aside to love people who are family then you don’t belong in my life. Simple as that. I refuse to allow my children to be hated because of their skin and sit back and say nothing. Not going to happen. We are bleed the same color and this world could benefit from loving one another. My son is 6 and we teach him it’s okay to dislike someone based on who they are but it is absolutely not okay to judge someone based on appearance. I would not be going around family if they couldn’t respect my boundaries and so their bullshit if i were you. We also have no contact with my husbands family because they hate that I’m white. We don’t accept it from any side ever. Hating one of us means you hate our children and I’m not okay with allowing those people in my life or my child’s. 
Speak up. Set your boundaries. And cut people off if you need to. Sometimes family is what you create and not what blood says.

If they cant be educated then they cant be part of my life. Im whtie, fiance is white but i will never stand for any form of racism. I do not speak to dfamily members who are nor do i speak to family members who condone others being racist. My son will not grow up with that
