Birth control for pcos?

I'm seeing my doctor Wednesday,  I have to get off the metformin it's making me horribly sick all the time. I constantly feel like I'm going to throw up,  I'm exhausted, and I'm just done.

I was on the patch and then the Nuva ring before but now I want to try the pill. Any suggestions for what works?

I was on sprintec for 5 years and never had any side effects with it. But every pill and every body is different, what worked for someone else won't necessarily work for you. Your doctor will prescribe what they think will work best for your body, just be honest with them if you experience any harsh side effects so they can change it if they need to.

I wasn't diagnosed with PCOS until after stopping birth control to ttc (but I didn't have any reason to be tested before because the bc kept me regular). I did the patch and the loestrin fe, but the patch was terrible because of washing off the sticky stuff every week and the loestrin didn't work because I stress too much. I had no idea that would affect bc, but it makes your stomach lining thicker and therefore harder to absorb. So, I switched to Generess Fe, which is a chewable. The chewable worked better because it didn't have to absorb through my stomach lining since I chewed it directly. I had no complaints out of it whatsoever. I'll go back to it after I have a baby (if I ever get there!)

I was told by my endocrinologist that lo loesterin fe isn't necessarily good for women with pcos because it has small trace amounts of testosterone so it's not as good. Or at least for me since I have higher levers of testosterone. Plus the periods are only a couple of days and super light which isn't great for us either. I'm on ocella right now and it's like before my period started screwing up to begin with!

I was on seasonique, I loved it because I had a cycle every 3 months, but that was before I knew I had PCOS so I don't know what I'm going to go when I go back on BC after I have my baby.

For as long as I was on Birth Control I took Lorstrin FE! I never got sick! Good Luck!
