Genital warts split condom!

Hi ladies/gents

My question is, do the chances of contracting the warts increase if they're visible? I am aware that I possibly already have the virus I just haven't had any warts yet (touch wood!) there's more info below

A week ago my fiancé got diagnosed with genital warts, we have been having unprotected sex for two years now we also have two kids however it is the first time I have noticed any visible warts on his penis..

We've just had sex and since we found the visible warts we've been using a condom however it's just split!!
