Does anyone know if preterm labor is hereditary? My mom went into preterm labor with all of her kids and it got progressively earlier as she went (i.e. She had me 2 weeks early, went into labor 6 weeks early with the next, and the last she was on bed rest from 20 weeks on due to preterm labor). She said I should pay attention to it and be aware as it can be hereditary. I plan on asking my doctor about it tomorrow but does anyone know if it can in fact be hereditary? I'm currently 26 weeks and just want to be prepared. Thanks!
