When should you announce your pregnancy?

When is everyone planning to announce to family, friends and wider circle? I have my 12 week scan tomorrow and my husband wants to tell his mum but I’m feeling really anxious about telling anyone. Part of me would like to keep it secret until the baby is born and be like ‘surprise!’ But I know that’s not practical. And did everyone’s anxiety about announcing go away once you’d done it? Were you relieved it wasn’t secret anymore?

I’m with you and would like to wait until baby arrives, however it’s my second and I’m feeling confident I will show early. We are playing it by ear but planning on telling family and everyone else at 21 weeks unless it has to be earlier.

Told my best friend when I found out. I announced to family and work at 16/17 weeks because it was getting obvious to the people I see everyday. I announced the gender and pregnancy on social media at 22 weeks. I’ve had 3 losses and I didn’t share them with anyone except my two best friends. I hate talking about my miscarriages until I’ve had time to grieve and process….which is usually a few months later so I don’t announce my pregnancies or losses until I’m ready.

I'm 14 weeks and am just not ready to tell people yet. But mine was also unplanned so that probably plays a part for me. 
I think you'll just know when you're ready to tell! 🩷 I always tell myself, once I tell people I can't take it back. It's nice to have it just between me and my sweet baby right now 🥰

Close family/friends that are family to me I told right away, like 5 weeks pregnant. We waited 3 years for the positive and while I was scared I would have wanted their support had we lost that baby. Wider circles I told via social media at start of 2nd trimester for my first 2. Then my 3rd over halfway, mostly just because i had told everyone I cared to in person. My 4th I announced widely at birth, but my friends and family knew about all 4 early on

For my first baby, I announced it after I had my confirmation scan, which was about eight weeks then the one I’m pregnant with now I didn’t announce it until about. I’d say the same time 8-9 weeks.

I told my best friend and sister when I found out at 4w, they were also both pregnant. I told my kids after my 8w ultrasound. I'm going to tell the rest of my family after my next ultrasound, probably around 12w, so no one's feelings get hurt. I'm not making a big announcement, so everyone else can find out when they find out. Most people tell/announce around 12 weeks, but it's really up to you. I know you feel anxious about it, I did too, but most of the time, people are excited and the support is good for you.
