Does membrane sweep hurt?

Does this hurt? I'm considering having it done Wednesday at my 39 week appointment.

I had mine done last monday at my 39 wk apt. I thought that it hurt, I was in pain the rest of the day having contractions on and off. I went to bed at 1030 and woke bake up at midnight having contractions and ended up having my little on at 8 in the morning. Good luck

It's a very very aggressive cervix check. And yes it hurt a good bit. I only had it done with my first (without warning or consent). I did go into labor 3 days later.

It hurt me but I believe it helped me lose my mucus plug. I had it done last Wednesday but have still not gone into labor yet.

It depends for each person. Mine hurt badly. And didn't work at all. Two weeks later I was still pregnant.

My due date is jan 12th, I had mine swept last Wednesday (39 weeks, 2.5cm and softened.) By Thursday night I had lost my mucus plug all in one go. Experienced some cramps at night, and looked like babe had dropped. I'm 40 weeks tomorrow and going to an appointment today for a check up. I would like her to come on her own, so they may do another sweep and wait. 
The feeling of it was not hurt, but discomfort ... I explained to my sister.. Felt like a truck was coming out my vageejay. The doctor mentioned if I was able to the pressure like she did, I should be able to labour okay. Just really practise your deep breathes when they do it. Good time to practice that.

I was wondering the same thing yet I figured labor hurts so it won't sway my decision to get it done or not lol.

It's a little uncomfortable. I thought it felt like a longer, more intense cervix check. I had mine done and less than 24 hours later I was holding my baby boy!

I decided to wait until another week, and I get so much crap from my family saying I should of let them do it at 39 wkz but if my baby hasn't even decided by now to come then it probably wouldn't of sent me into labor, I'm 40 wks today and see the Dr tmrw and I will go ahead and have it done, I'm a ftm so I'm not sure if it hurts but my Dr her exams are more painful than the other two drs I've seen, I don't know if she's just rougher or her nails or what. But I expect it to hurt a little not horrible though
