Birth control issue

Has anyone been on birth control for more than 2 years like the implant and than tried to get pregnant after ? I stopped using anything in April 2014 and I've been getting negative pregnancy results. My doctor says to wait a month and that was in august .I hope It won't be a year until I can conceive
