I recently found out via facebook that a younger friend of mine is in trouble. She was one of my students when I was a teacher's aide, and she was in middle school at the time. She was adopted by my pastor as a young girl, is bipolar, and always had behavioral and learning disabilities. Despite this, she was always very sweet, loving, and childlike. After she turned 18, she quit her medications, became depressed, and left home. She refuses to go back and her parents won't allow her if she did because she's become a risk to her younger brothers. She stayed at a shelter and a friend's house briefly, and has started drinking, drugs, and dating strangers. She now lives on the street and has been raped twice by other homeless men. The past 3 days she's had no food and she miscarried in the restroom of a public library yesterday ? she never even knew she was pregnant! She's in California near my hometown, I'm at university in TN otherwise I'd rescue her personally. I've given her information for the nearest WIC and PlannedParenthood, but this naive young girl can't be on the street with her mental condition! I've asked around at schools for at-risk kids but they all say she's too old. help! I need resources! How can I help her?!
