Why a C-section is the first choice for twins!?

I am having fraternal twins in about 3 weeks or less. Both my girls are head down and I had a previous vaginal delivery. My doctor is really supportive and really good with multiples birth via vaginal delivery, I know I am in good hands and I truly don't see nothing wrong with it, I see C-section as an emergency method in case things don't go as planned. But I am getting a lot of backlash with my decision of having them vaginally, I know in the US c-section it's the first choice for FTM of multiples or if both are breech. They think I am completely insane and putting my babies in danger. What is your opinion?  This made me really curious, with my first kid no one said a peep when I decided to have him naturally (I ended up needing an epidural anyway) but now, Everyone has an opinion and no one is really supportive.

I'm a severe anemic and it would be more dangerous for me to have them via cesarean rather than vaginally.. so I'm glad both of my babies are head down. Im sure if it was dangerous for them your DOCTOR wouldn't have you deliver vaginally in the first place. Right?

My doctor was very supportive about having vaginal delivery as well unless there was a last minute problem, but every time I had an ultrasound one or both babies were head up or breeched, so I told my doctor that I wanted to have them thru c section since I'm having my tubes tied might as well do everything at once, but there's nothing wrong with having them vaginally as long as they're positioned correctly. Your recovery will be much faster than having a c section and you'll get to enjoy them better ;)

My dr did not want me to have a c section with my multiples and my b was born breech. She felt like that was no reason to just choose a c section with multiples unless there was a medical reason for it. I had a vaginal birth at 38w1d with a breech extraction. But yes most people's first questions is if I had a c section.

Because people have been trained to trust modern medicine more then anything else and if a doctor says it's dangerous or high risk they believe them. Also from what I have read the education of multiple and breech births is starting to be overlooked. The US has the highest rate for  cesarean section , we also have some of the highest labor and delivery cost.  Watch Pregnant In America and the Business Of Being born , I found them eye opening.

With all that being said I am thankful  very thankful for modern medicine.

I don't see why you wouldn't had them vaginally if there are no medical reason to need a C-Section. I'd be doing what you're doing.

I want my tubes tied so I guess I have to have a c section unless there is another way to have my tube tied without an operation

I had my twins vaginally! It's perfectly safe! Plus you have then in OR incase you need to have an emergency C-section!

I have had two previous surgeries on my uterus and knew before getting pregnant I would have to have a c-section. The risk of placental aburtion is higher after the surgeries plus you add twins and the latest they will let me go is 37 weeks. I don't think for other moms a c-section is forced.

In the UK 60% of fraternal twins are born naturally. The other 40% is due to complications/elective c-sections/breech. They usually always try for vaginal deliveries if baby A is head down.

Go for it! I wish I could! In the beginning, My dr told me as long as baby A was head down I could deliver vaginally. However, I ended up with a low laying placenta and with a prior still birth the risk for my babies was just too high. Even with all that my dr still let the decision be up to my husband and I. Definatly not a first choice and very nervous for delivery day!
