Every medication has risks, yes, even ibuprofen has risks if you read the labels. But taking it requires being careful about it. I think this was the doctor's fault and was just stupid about treating this girl. I also think part of it is the specific birth control she was on. I haven't heard anything like this about any other birth control, pill or not.

It's well known that the pill carriers risk of blood clots. It's not common, but some women are higher risk than others.

Blood clots are very common with birth control .

I've treated many females over the years due to it too.

So sad, poor girl and I feel terrible for her family😔. Such a damn shame

There's a risk to any medication. I've been on alesse for 13yrs and never had a problem so far. Everyone's different and things happen.

How many people have died taking Yaz since it released? Yet it's still apparently popular. All medication has risks.

Yikes...I think blood clots are the reason they tell you it's not good to smoke on the pill, so I wonder how common they are. That's scary.

This is why I will never take birth control and I don't like my body being controlled by hormones.  That's like lying to my body.
