What would you do if your ex wouldnt get his thing from your house?

We are in a nasty breakup. He pays a few bills but He is not on the lease and is never home. Either working, out all night drinking, or just disappears. Plus we have 99 other problems. We are done, but his things are still here. So he keeps coming back. Trying to be peaceful but I'm almost ready to get police involved.

I voted but I would do any of these. I'd pack his shit up and donate it to Salvation Army.

Send him a certified letter with tracking details from the post office stating that he has 30 days to remove his belongings before they will be placed in the garbage. 
This serves as a 30 day eviction notice type thing. 
Make sure you make a copy of the letter with a date and time it was sent as well as the tracking notice which you receive a copy when you mail it and you can print the delivery confirmation from UPS once it's been delivered. 
This will all cost less than $5.00 and save your ass if you throw his things away after 30 days.

I just looked this up and it said that in most states you have to storage his things for 14 days AFTER you left him know to come and get his things. It also said that if you sell his things after the 14 days then all the money belongs to him and you have to give it to him. Lastly it said that if some of his things go missing or harmed you can be responsible for damages but I think it's only true if it happens before the 14 days are up. Now I don't know where you live or what your laws are but what I wrote is true in most states not all

I wouldn't do any of those. I would talk to him and calmly ask him if he can take his things because it's awkward for me to have him coming in and out of my place. Also, if he's still paying bills, I think he's entitled to taking a little longer to pack. At least I can see him feeling that and would understand.

You could also pack it up and contact a mutual friend or one of his family members to mediate. Let his know someone will be there when and if he picks up at an arranged time so he can't claim you broke, missed, or stole anything. Also, change your locks. Depending on your state, he may have residency rights, so you may have to issues a 30 day notice. If you have questions, you can always ask a police officer. It is a common domestic issue and they will know the laws in your state.

Don't get rid of them without sincerely trying to return them. You don't want trouble with the police. Either pack it up and give him a reasonable deadline to pick it up or you'll set it on the porch... Or pack it up and take it to his place, but at least attempt for him to be there so you don't leave it on the porch.
