What's a good amount of cloth diapers?

We are thinking of cloth diapers. Just wondering what's a good amount to start off with? And which is better....buying like size 1....2...or going with the ones that have multiple sizes built in?

I went with alvababy.com diapers (cheap). They work amazing!  I cd my now 4year old from 3 months to 2 years. I had 20ish pocket diaps. I'm going to do diaper covers with plain old trifolds for an insert. I'm getting 15. The diaper cover style you change the inside not the cover every change. Buttt how many you need depends on laundry habits and diap style! I spent under 100 for plenty of diaps for the 2 years!

I found this chart which was pretty accurate to most of the information I've found. 
We're getting one-size covers and inserts - it's the most economical option because they fit most babies from newborn or almost newborn until potty training, and you don't need as many covers, which tend to be the expensive part. You have to get what works for you and your baby though.

I am ftm but for me after my research I got a stash of small for the newborn stage then got the OS. The OS can be bulky on small babies so I felt it was worth having a smaller size.

How many you need will partially depend on what style you use. Prefolds and covers, all in ones, fitted, etc... But on average in the beginning I think they say plan on changing every 2 hrs....
