Any mamas know that they are having a baby with downs?

We had our 20 week scan today and our beautiful baby girl has some markers for downs. We see a specialist tomorrow j was just wondering if anyone is going through the same thing or maybe already have a child with downs

My neice was born with Down syndrome and I can assure you that your baby girl will be Asa adorable as my neice. We love her to death and she is so sweet and smart. Doctors said, she won't be able to move or do most of stuff but thank god she is the same as other babys her age. She just turned 1 year old November 11, 2015 I'll show you her pic and she is just so gorgeous. I'm sure your daughter will be cute and sweet just by looking at the US pic.

Just wanna say that Downs babies are fantastic - special needs are a challenge, but they're so great to work with as people. I go to college with some Downs students and they're very bright and independent.

That having been said, I've also seen a LOT of women be told that their kid will have a disability and everything came out 100% normal even after abnormal screens. It really depends on the situation. Good luck!

There are TONS of resources for support, both online and in the physical space designed to create a community for you to lean on when facing the unique challenges presented to you and your family.

The tests to determine this diagnosis are, to be honest a total crapshoot. It may be it's all false positives for some and for others all negatives. It's never too early to start researching and reaching out to other parents.

Just this week we went through a similar situation. We had our anatomy scan and the nuchal fold measured 6.3 mm (normal is less than 6). This was concerning for downs. So we did the quad test, which was negative. We then saw the maternal fetal Med specialist and had another ultrasound and the nuchal fold measured 5.6 mm (which is within normal limits). They said that the baby's positioning for the first ultrasound could have caused the wrong measurement and that it is highly unlikely that our baby has downs. I hope this helps. My first son had dilated kidneys at his 20w scan and they mentioned potential downs. Scared me so much so I know how you feel. They concluded that since the NT test from earlier weeks was normal that he likely did not have downs which he doesn't. I hope you get conclusive answers so you can start leaning about downs care if need be.

Bilateral pyelectasis was shown on the ultrasound and I read it's a soft mark for down I will be going to a fetal medicine doctor in 2 weeks for a detail ultrasound
