Can you find yourself and be in a committed relationship?

I have a close friend.. She doesn't love herself very much, she asked me if it's possible to work on yourself and also be in a relationship? What do you guys think?

The question is, is the guy building her up and invested in her finding herself or is he self absorbed and bringing down her self esteem/ self worth? Yes, you can find yourself and be in a relationship if the guy is the supportive type. No, if it's an unhealthy relationship. It will just make things worse.

I've been doing that for 14 years (12 married).  I suggest she have that conversation with her bf too.  I did with my now husband because I didn't want to get in another committed relationship with out warning the guy.  He's been incredibly supportive over the years.
