How long will it take for my milk to come in?

Question

I had a cesarean yesterday morning. My nurses just keep telling me to let baby feed on the collostrum (not sure if I spelled that correctly) until my milk comes in. They say it should come within a few days but I'm worried that just collostrum won't be enough for her until then.. She feeds every hour and a half to two hours. 
I feel so dumb because I have no idea what I'm doing. I'd originally planned to formula feed but I changed my mind last minute so we didn't have time to take breastfeeding classes. Ugh sorry guys I just need help. I wish I knew what to do. I feel like such a fool. 😔

It will take a few days, but that's okay. That's how babies are designed. Their stomachs are so small that colostrum is plenty. This picture is helpful for understanding it.

Just keeping getting help from the nurses and see about having the lactation consultant come by. She will be able to give you all the info you need.

You can always ask to use a breast pump to help stimulate your breasts to produce more. Usually it comes in 3-5 days. Mine took a week because of some problems after delivery. I pumped every few hours too. I supplemented with formula through a syringe at the breast while I waited for it to come in. My daughter is 2.5 weeks old and we are still trying to get used to breast feeding. She nurses well with a nipple shield. I pump about 6 ounces in the morning to use at night and after she nurses for long amounts of time. We supplement with formula if we need to. She might get a bottle a day to fill her up before bed time. Breast feeding is hard! But if your determined you can do it.

I had my son on the 11th. The colostrum was plenty in the hospital but the night we got home he wasn't satisfied so I sent my hubby to the store for similac sensitive and we have supplemented with what I can get while pumping.

1 to 2 hours is totally normal for a bday fed newborn!! Your doing great! Don't stress it will come in when its time!!
