Any step moms out there? How is the relationship with your step kid(s)?

Just became a new step parent and am having a really hard time adjusting to having kids in our home every other weekend... Can anyone else relate? Please no negative or judgmental comments...

Being a step parent is hard, especially if the kids aren't with you 24/7. Include the kids as much as possible but realize that you aren't their bio mom. It's a fine line. Also make sure to communicate with your husband about how you're feeling. Don't be too hard on yourself this can work.

I'm the same. But my mans kid is 12. He's grumpy. Rude. Spoilt. Doesn't speak a word to me or hardly to his father.

I feel like it is harder to bond with my step daughter because I only see her every other weekend, but I love her to pieces.

I am a step mama to 2 bonus babies that are 10 and 12, they really are my life!! I love them so much!! I have been a part of their lives they were 6 and 4 and I have known them and they were 4 and 2. I wouldn't change it for the world either!!

Oh man, being a step mom is so hard. I have experienced it both with my ex husband and my current SO. I still don't know how to be a good step mom. Good luck to you.

I am so in love with my step daughter! I treat her the same as my others in the home so she gives me the respect I deserve and I respect her. Sometimes there is extra junk (from her mother) in which she can't help or sometimes she comes over and says/does thing we do not allow (we are more conservative) however, she is at an age where she is learning the difference between her moms house and ours. I consider every child a blessing and I know at times it can be challenging but remember they are making adjustments too. Slow progress is best!

It's hard 😩😖 very hard especially when everyone isn't on the same page and mature to do what's right for the kid but when you love a man you suck it up!!

It is one of the hardest things I've ever done. Mine will be 7 next month. I got married 4.5 months ago. My first marriage, then an Insta mom. It's really hard.

I'm not in this situation, but if I were, I'd be really uncomfortable. It seem like the kid would see you as their "friend" and nothing more. You wouldn't be able to discipline them because the whole "YOURE NOT MY MOM". Personally I'd never put myself in this situation....someone with kids =deal breaker (unless their kids are independent adults)

I have 3 step children. 11,12,&14. I've been around them for 3 years and we have our good days and bad. Their mother committed suicide about 5 years ago & it's hard sometimes because, I'm not mommy. I have and never will be mommy but, I always try to remind them in every way I know that I'll always be here if they need to talk.
