My son was a premie. I made sure everyone had their whooping cough vaccine, flu shot and knew how to properly wash their hands before seeing my baby. I spent a lot of time in the nicu with him and saw how devestating preventable conditions can be to babies.

You can ask but no guarantees they will do it.

I would never demand that someone get it, unless I planned on paying for it.

I had whooping cough when I was 6 weeks old and it's not something you want to risk, ever. I had less than 40% chance of surviving once I got it and if I did I was supposed to have brain and/or lung damage. Thankfully I got lucky but it's not worth the gamble.

It's so important my best friend had a baby 2 months ago and she got all her family and people who would be around the baby regularly to get the vaccination I was completely on her side about it and so was everyone else

You're probably putting you're baby at a higher risk if you ask people to get it unless you yourself were vaccinated whilst pregnant. If that's the case then there is absolutely no need to expect anyone else to have the vaccine.

Even if you get the vaccine while pregnant, there is no guarantee that those antibodies will get to the fetus. I would highly recommend not exposing your unvaccinated infant to anyone else who is unvaccinated. Keep your babies home. They can die from whopping cough.

I got the vaccine when my aunt gave birth. There was an outbreak around the hospital and we knew early on her son would have a low immune system. It's not like it's some big drastic painful shot. Just get it over with and get baby cuddles.
