You start counting dpo the day after you ovulate. For me it was day 13, today is cycle day 19 for me so I am 6 dpo.

It can be tricky if you don't know the day you ovulate and it can still be tricky when you take OPK's because a positive test means you ovulate 12-48 from that positive result.  That's when tracking other ovulation predictors,  such as BBT help.
