Breastfeeding tips?

I'm a ftm mom and I will be breastfeeding my little boy when he gets here so I was wanting any tips from moms who have or are going to breastfeed? Thank you! 💕

Drink a full glass of water after each time he nurses. After he nurses pump for 15 to 30 minutes each side to increase your supply at first. It's time consuming and can get frustrated but just take a breath and keep pushing forward. Don't get discouraged if you can't get a good latch at first. My little didn't successfully latch until she was 2 days old . There are lots of things to look into. Covers, boppy ( I thought it was a waste of money so I didn't buy one, then I was gifted one and couldn't live without it)  nipple shield,  lanolin, breastpads. You can put a warm rag on your breast when feeding to help with the letdown. Also make sure you read up on things that can go wrong. Such as mastitis,   blood blisters, clogged ducts. That way your are informed when it happens and can help speed things on for a quick recovery. :)

Drink lots and lots of water. Keep a healthy diet. Don't eat or drink anything with mint, it can dry you up. Same with antihistamine medicines. Don't get discouraged when your milk isn't fully in. It can take up to a week after giving birth. In order to maintain a good supply, feed every 2-3 hours. My sons 8 weeks and luckily we've had a pretty easy time with it. For me preparation was key, I read and learned as much as I could ahead of time before I gave birth so I knew what to expect as much as possible. And take advantage of lactation consultants while you're in the hospital for any questions that come up once you actually start breastfeeding.

Don't give up! The beginning is hard and annoying but it's so good for them! I actually hate breastfeeding
But I could never not do it because I know how good it is for my kids.

Look for a La Leche League group in you area or online (there are many groups on Facebook). Depending where you live, it shouldn't be tricky to find one, and you can start going to meetings now. That will connect you with lactation consultants and other nursing moms in your area.

Keep working on it! I'm a FTM baby is 2 weeks old- they say breastfeeding is hard- now I know! It's a full time job. It's easy to get discouraged, but hang in there and keep working on it. My son has a tongue tie so it's tricky for that reason, too. Hopefully it will be a tad easier when we get that clipped
