2nd Pregnancy, baby shower or not?

Question

I don't think it's the done thing to have a baby shower for your 2nd child. But I'm not sure. I'm not finding out the gender and didn't with my first so I won't need gender neutral clothes and it's really cheeky to assume or ask for gifts. They've already done it once.

Just wondering if it's still okay to plan a similar get together before I have the baby as I won't see them as much after?

I'm am not trying to be mean or offensive but I am telling you what I was taught since you asked, I was always taught it is tacky to do more than one bridal shower or baby shower. It is more of a first time starting out thing. Good luck in your choice.

Every baby should be celebrated! If you don't want gifts, say so in the invitation. Call it a baby celebration. That's what we did for my brother's 2nd and 3rd children. Why wouldn't you?

Two of my sisters have more than one child,  they had showers for all of their children... they didn't plan them but my family is really supportive and close so we enjoy getting together to celebrate. I don't think its tacky at all. We don't host the showers for gift-receiving, we do it to celebrate a new little blessing in our family.  Just because the other kids weren't born first doesn't mean we aren't just as excited to welcome them into the world.

I think every baby deserves a shower. It's a celebration. I truly hate that anyone finds it rude or tacky. It's no different than a birthday party! It just takes place before the birth. 
For this baby, our 3rd, we are going to do a "Pinterest Party", and instead of gifts we are doing crafts for the nursery! I wanted a penguin theme this time, and basically everything has to be made! So I'm going to bring the supplies, and they are going to bring their crafting skills :D So baby and I will be "showered" with love every day.

2nd baby shower is called a "baby sprinkle"! Because you dont get showered with gifts but sprinkled ;) its a pretty cute idea lol just ask for things like diapers, wipes etc.. nothing too extravagant. Have fun!

We've discussed not having a shower if we have another boy (our son is only 2). If we are having a girl we will definitley have one. I honestly just think it's up to you and what you're comfortable with.

Another idea is doing like a "meet the baby" type get together. Kinda like a baby shower but after the baby is born. If you're not wanting a shower with gifts but still want to have a little celebration you could do that.

I honestly don't get the point of a second shower or a renamed "sprinkle." I think it's a bit tacky and selfish. If you want to celebrate the baby, have a small get together with family and friends. Do not call it a shower or sprinkle, and make it clear that there are no gifts. If you already had a child, you probably have a head start on a bunch of stuff. (Disclaimer:  I refused to have a wedding shadower because I think they're selfish.)

This is a good question... as I have asked myself, friends and family the same question. It's been Almost 8 years since my last all our baby stuff has been handed on to other family members and friends. I cant decide if i want to do baby shower or if I want  to do a meet and greet with our baby aftwrwards, but I will be delivering early and it will be near cold and flu season when the baby would be home from the nicu. So I am truly torn on what I want to do as well. I have feeling probably nothing unless my family throws a surprise party which that does keep coming up.

I think we'll end up having one but I lived in another state when DD was born and none of my family got to celebrate with us and my DD is 7 so needless to say we don't have much in the way of baby stuff. I really don't care about gifts I just want to be able to celebrate with my family and my DD is dying to have a baby shower so she can help lol
