Autism... How do you know??

Question

I've looked online for signs of autism and my daughter has shown a few is this normal or should I ask her pediatrician? No rude comments plz

I have an autistic son we knee when he was 2 but doctors waiting till 3 for him to get diagnosed but if I were you I would go to a doctor because if its not autism there might be something else. Always better to be safe the sorry :-)

Early intervention is extremely important. I was a special education teacher and states have tons of resources to help. I would schedule an appointment ASAP to talk about any concerns with your doctor.

My son is autistic and he is 6. He also has ADHD and sensory processing disorder. He had mild speech dyspraxia when he was two and three. When we firsts started therapy my son was severe autistic and after 4 years of intense therapy my son is extremely high functioning to the point where most have no idea he even has autism or speech issues. Matter of fact his speech is so great now that he tests the highest in his class for his speech. Don't be afraid to get help. Anytime you feel there isn't something quite right. It's important to get it looked at. There is a huge community of support out there.

First: do you feel there's something wrong with her? Or you just started realiza and found out some possible signs?

Anyway, you better ask her ped about it and share your concerns if you have any.

I feel so sorry for you and yr daughter. Part of me thinks why do we try to train autistic kids to be 'normal' and it's not fair to place that expectation on them. But reading some of the other commers abt how well early intervention can work... Idk now! But I wish u all the best xox

It's best to ask your dr. A daycare I had my son is the lady told me my son is exactly how her son was and her son has ADHD and was on drugs since he was 3. My son is 5 and doesn't have ADHD he's just a boy.

I've worked with server kids on the spectrum. And if it's borderline- it's best not to label them. Try setting a schedule and sticking to it (at first that can be challenging) eat healthy and exercise. Work on speech and weak skills at home and hopefully you can avoid the label! But always talk to the doc about it and they can suggest more! (But will generally start with what I've suggested )

It's best to ask your doctor for an assessment but a few exhibited traits here and there is no big deal, we actually ALL exhibit autistic qualities if you really pay attention. If your doctor won't do it then seek out your local "regional center" that offers services to children before and after school age to help.  Don't worry, if this is really what's happening there are so many resources out there for you!    I teach Special Ed, mostly Autism now, and genuinely feel like rise in numbers has to do with better diagnosis and support now, not an epidemic spreading!  My colleagues and I always say that they're all special whether identified with something or not ?
