Significant other behavior during pregnancy

My husband and I have been together for almost 6 years, married for 1.5. He has always told me he wanted children, but I wanted to wait until we were settled in our careers and had a home. Now that I'm pregnant (16 weeks) I know he is happy, but he has been acting very different and distant. I feel like he has a lot on his mind but he won't talk to me about it. A few days ago he told me "he isn't sure he can be the husband I need" but he had been drinking when he said it. He normally doesn't drink much but he has been the last few weeks. The next day he told me he was sorry and he didn't mean it. We're going to start counseling, but I'm just wondering if any other significant others act this way? Is it somewhat normal? I totally understand having nerves because I certainly do too! But I'd like more support from him throughout the pregnancy and for us to be more excited together.
Thanks for listening!
