Doctor worried my ultrasound

C

I had my first appointment with my baby doctor today and I am about 5 weeks. So still very very very early.

My doctor is concerned about one of the sacs being empty. She says the other baby is implanted already and the reason for the empty sac is possibly that baby has implanted yet?

According to other pictures from the ultrasound it's too early for heartbeats of course, no signs of vanishing twin syndrome (yet), no signs of a miscarriage, no signs of an ectopic pregnancy, and no signs of unnecessary fluid.

No cramping, no bleeding, no nothing.

The first words out of my doctors mouth were, "where is the other baby?!"

Has anyone else had this happen to them and end up having a successful pregnancy with 2 babies?!?!?!?!

Twins also run on my side of the family.

My dad's dad had a twin brother, my dad had a twin brother, and I have twin brothers from my dad. Now I'm pregnant with what seems to be twins. So it hasn't skipped a generation.

My grandma's sister on my mom's side also had a set of twins and each twin had a set of twins.

There are also 3 or 4 sets floating around on my husband's side somewhere.

HELP?!
