should we wait to get engaged?

okay so my boyfriend and I are both 22. we have been friends for 5 years, dating for 2 years, and have lived togetner for one year. there is very few disagreements between us, we always find a compromise. neither one of us have ever known anyone to get along as well as we do. we want to get married soneday and love the idea of a longer 2 or 2 and a half year engagement. so that we can enjoy the process of pre marriage counsiling and wedding planning. my question  is should we wait to get engaged? we just cant think of a reason not to do it.

I was engaged at 21 planned our wedding which was a really nice wedding in four months (even our guests said so I'm not just biased my father in law even said it was way better than my brother in laws who had a year to plan their wedding and they just got married this August). I turned 22 a month before our wedding 7/13/13 is our anniversary and we found out we were pregnant on my birthday 6/2/14 so now I'm 23 and 24 weeks pregnant with our son lol.  If you want to get engaged do it! Don't let anyone stop you. My dad actually told him he didn't agree with it and he still asked me anyway and they love him like their own son!

You guys can be engaged and wait to get married. That way if there's a really big fight you can't get over you can always go your separte ways (I'm not saying that is going to happen. But if it does you have the plan to go your own paths) plus it'll save money of you guys are really really ready to get married. But you will know when that time is. Good luck :)

There is no "right" age to get married. I got married when I was 19, and both my parents said that they thought I was ready and that it was a good decision for me. My brother and his girlfriend have been together for longer than my husband and I have been, but I don't think they'll be ready to get married until they're in the mid to late twenties at least.

It also of course depends on who you're with. If you don't feel like you could spend the rest of your life loving and being happy with your SO, then no age is a good age! It sounds to me like you and your boyfriend are happy together and love each other, and if you're thinking about it that logically, I'd definitely say you're ready! Unless of course you both just don't feel ready, then there is no shame in waiting! Everyone's life is different, and I think you guys will make the right choice in the end. :)
