Overweight and TTC?

Question

Does anyone have an experience with a successful pregnancy while obese? I've lost 25 lbs. in the last three months and I'm hoping to lose about 40 more but my husband and I decided that, since it might take so long to conceive, I went off BC and we're technically TTC. I've read everywhere that I'm not likely to get pregnant while obese, but I feel like there has to be a few successes out there.

Your likelihood of getting pregnant really depends on if you have a regular cycle or not. Your fertility also will increase with every 10% of body fat lost.

Being obese is only a fertility issue if you have other fertility issues. Being obese makes them worse. But if there's already nothing wrong, then your chances should be pretty good hun. My friend's gf finally had her baby and she conceived at 39 years old and 450 pounds :) So I'm sure you're okay!

As you are aware everyone's body is different. Your chances of conceiving are a tad bit lower if you are overweight, but It does happen. Sounds like you are on a plan to creating a smaller you. Make sure that plan includes a healthier you too. No crash diet plans.  Start a prenatal vitamin just in case you are lucky enough to conceive. I am significantly overweight for my height and had trouble conceiving. With some help (drugs and Iui) we are expecting our first child in early June. Your journey will take its own course. But wherever your journey takes you, I wish you well.

Exercising is great for your back if you get pregnant also , and good for delivery pushing will tire you out. I'm excersing trying get healthy... Just im not losing it fast enough: (

Yaaaa I worked in Peds and emergency medicine for years, and OB for the last 2, I'm gonna go ahead and call bs. I'm "obese" also, but, and please no one take this the wrong way, I've seen woman bigger than me who weigh more than me carry full term with no issue. I've seen woman with heart conditions, diabetes-before pregnancy, and oh so many other things get pregnant.
Multiple times.
So no. Bs. Yes! They have high risk. But again, I've seen perfectly healthy 130 -150 5'8 woman carry with so much difficulty, pre term, and lose and it's so unfortunate.

No one can really say who can and who cannot unless your missing ovaries and he's missing testicles. but kudos for making your body a healthy home! And good luck!
