When to stop Birth Control?

Question

My husband and I are hoping to conceive sometime in July of this year. When is the best time that I stop Birth control so that I can be completely fertile?

I asked my doctor this same question and she told me there is no way to know for sure. She said that some women can get pregnant the same month they stop taking it and some it can take up to a year to get full fertility back. She also said to wait 2 or 3 cycles (periods) before trying to get pregnant once I come off of it. She said that part of the way that birth control works is that it thins the lining of your uterus so the egg can't attach to it. She said if I got pregnant  before my uterine lining goes back to normal there is a very high chance it could end in miscarriage. We are currently in month one of waiting. We are hoping to conceive before June.

I would like to do the same. I'm currently waiting for my sister to get closer to her due date before we ttc. I was thinking that I should get off birth control three months before we start. But it would be nice to see others opinions on it. Have you already started taking prenatal vitamins?

Also my doctor told me that if I was even thinking of trying to get pregnant I needed to Start prenatal vitamins so I have been taking them for about 2 months now.

Everyone is different. Some can get pregnant immediately, some can't get pregnant til a year or even longer afterwards. I stopped my birth control and conceived 9 months later. I might recommend getting off of the birth control now to let your body get back to normal and use conventional methods of prevention if you don't want to concieve until July (like not having sex around ovulation and using condoms and spermicide).
