Gender with a blood test?

So I've read some things about people finding out the gender of their baby through a blood test much earlier on than the 20 week Mark my doctor originally said I would be able to know. I go for my 12 week appointment in two weeks-where they will do blood work and check for downs and such... Is that something I can ask for? I'm dying to know what we're having!!

I had the MaterniT21 test done my Tricare insurance doesn't cover it so it maybe around $120-200, I'm still waiting to see if Medicare will cover it but they called today with my results and everything is fine no genetic abnormalities so she asked if we wanted to know the gender and of course we did, my husband asked how accurate it was and she said 99.4% so we're  really excited we already have 4 girls. And we finally got our BOY!!!!

I'm getting the verifi test by progenity at 10 weeks- tests for a slew of disorders and also gender. Turnaround is 2 weeks, costs us 20 out of pocket and my insurance doesn't cover it. My OB has an agreement with lab. I believe it will never cost you more than 250; you can call progenity to negotiate with them.

I did the Harmony blood test that tests for genetic abnormalities, such as Down Syndrome, and the gender as well. My results should be in soon. It was a very simple process! Look it up and see if you're interested :)

I think every doctor is different. My dr didnt mention learning gender with the testsd for birth defects but my friend's dr gave them the gender.
