Cassidy's birth story:
Ok so I had my 40 week check on January 19th and was dilated to 2.5 so I was finally able to get a sweep. Started having mild contractions that night but they weren't too bad and I was able to fall asleep. I woke up just before 4am and slowly but surely they started up again and by 6 we knew it was time to get ready and pack any last minute things and get my son to our friends house. My son was dropped off about 6:45 and we headed to the hospital arriving around 7:10. My contractions at this point were about 2 minutes apart and lasting a minute or more. They were horrendous and I wanted the epi asap. Sadly I was checked and only a 2.75- tight 3 so no epi yet and I had to continue with the pain 😭. Around 9 the on call dr came by and checked me again. No change. And unfortunately for me they also had full beds with women still waiting at home to be called in for inductions that day, so I was told I was going to be discharged... I was given 2 pills to help me sleep and told to go home and get some rest and come back in that night. So at 10am we are headed home both My husband and I were pretty ticked lol. We get home at 10:20ish and I head up to bed to try and get some sleep. I lay down and the contractions instantly get way worse. So no sleep for me. They are so bad by this point that I can't even attempt to roll over without triggering one to come immediately after one had just finished. I'm in agony but know they were easier on my left side so I finally roll over and deal with the double long contraction. Next contraction comes and something is very obviously not right, my body is starting to push. We've been home now 15 minutes. Another contraction comes and I'm gritting my teeth trying to stop my body from pushing knowing there is no way in hell I'm at a 10 already and pushing is a terrible idea at a 3. I text My husband "help" and he comes to check on me. I tell him what's going on and he calls the hospital back. They had to get a second opinion but ultimately tell us to come back. I get up and go right back onto the bed on my hands and knees and burry my face in the bed struggling so hard to no push but my body keeps trying. My husband tells me that's a bad idea, that I shouldn't be in a birthing position, we need to go. We walk down stairs and I stop on the landing as another contraction starts. I bend over and brace but this time I absolutely can't stop my body from pushing and with my pants still on Cassidy's head pops out. I knew right away what had happened and tell My husband "something happened" and start pulling my pants off and getting down on my hands and knees. My husband sees the head. I tell him to call 911 and he hands me the phone so his hands are free. I put it on speaker and tell them what's happening. Next contraction I push and Cassidy is out! She cried right away and we got her wrapped in my sons bath robe. Paramedics arrived 15 minutes later and we headed to the hospital after My husband cut her cord. We will never forget that day.
