Baby shower. Am I being selfish?

My head is spinning because I want MY shower to go a certain way. My husband hates when I refer to it as my shower, but aren't showers for the mom to be? I know, I know, co-ed showers are a thing of the now. But am I wrong for wanting to opt out of that? The fact that I want a really girly shower bothers him too. IT'S A GIRL! It just makes sense to me...but maybe I'm being selfish?

There are things like diaper parties for guys, right? It's to the point where I was wrong for looking for potential shower locations without him. He hasn't put forth any effort to do so this far, & it needs to be done, so my hands are tied.

Remember your bringing th baby Into a family not just your life so everyone in your family including the men feel and want to be apart of the shower. We are gonna have booze for the men to hang out in the man cave while the woman do the games and what not but the men can be there to watch open gifts and all.

My man had such a big part in our shower. He kept calling it "your shower" referring to me, and I would always correct him "it's OUR baby shower" he had more friends and family there than I did. I loved it being about the three of us and not just me. But it still was my way technically. All the decorations and set up.

Traditionally the baby shower is about the mom, but that's very strange to me. A baby shower should be about the baby and welcoming him/her into the world. That's why we're opting for a coed shower. I want our male friends and relatives to be able to celebrate just as much as the women.

I'm going the traditional route too and having just the women there. I think it's nice to have all the women in each family together! My husband will come for a while at the end to thank everyone and open some gifts.

It sounds like you two are throwing your own shower?  I'd say the solution is to have more than one. That's how things worked out for me. We had 2 family/co-Ed showers (his family lives out-of-state), and then a friend of mine threw a very girly, ladies only shower. By the 3rd one, he didn't even want to go!

My fiancé is very involved, he helped creat our baby so why not include him in the shower so we can celebrate all 3 of us? I'm having my shower coed just because I think it's more fun but it's totally up to you what you want. If he shows interest in being part of the shower why not see if you can get some of his friends together and they can hang out and celebrate or something.

I told my SO from the get go that that the baby shower is for the mom to be and women only that the only time the men will be there is to pick up their ladies or to help put the gifts in the car.  I made it clear in the beginning that the baby shower is for me and the baby and it's just a woman's thing it's not meant for men.  Why would a man want to sit around and watch a bunch of women gossip and play games and talk about nasty pregnancy and birth stuff??
