TTC in 40's naturally

So I'm thinking of taking the plunge to see an RE since we haven't conceived it's been 1 yr, 8 mths. We had a MC last Feb so I obviously can get pregnant, YAY, but haven't had any success since, so basically just want to know how many of you have had success naturally conceiving or needed a little help and what can I expect from seeing a RE. A Dr told me recently, not my regular Dr, that I would only conceive with an egg donor and no one over 40 conceives naturally! That knocked me down for awhile but feel ready to defy all odds!!!!!!
