What is best in your opinion

Question

My boyfriend and I were discussing when to have another baby. He wants them close but this pregnancy was already hard enough that a second is out of the question now. I'd like to wait til our son is out of diapers and helpful with mommy. So what do you think? Have them close or years apart?

Depends on what you feel you can handle. We originally wanted 4 years between ours, but they'll be almost 7 apart lol. We just weren't ready for a second one until after our son turned 5. Then it took 11 months to get pregnant lol.

There is no answer to this. My first two are 18 months apart and they adore each other, and hate each other! Lol - depends on the moment. I'm having my third any time now and my little man is about to turn 3.

Two in diapers was never a big deal. They were both in diapers for a year. I did cloth too, one size snap diapers. And yes, I work a full time plus job. It still wasn't a big deal.

I think whatever works for you is fine. I'm not the youngest mom now in my 30's so waiting 5 years in between was not feasible. I love my chaotic house of almost 3 boys!

I'm 34, but husband is 39 next month. For us, if we decide on a second we will likely start trying right at one year. It took us quite some time to get pregnant with this one and we're okay with them both being in diapers if that happens. We still may choose to stick with just the one.

This is my second. Our son is 6 years old now. We wanted to wait until we only had to have one in daycare because we're we live in Atlanta daycare costs are insane and we both work full time. Our son just started K this past fall so it was the right time for us. I'm glad we waited because now he is super super excited about being a big brother and is already so involved and interested in everything about his new baby brother.

Well I chose to have my first two very close together my daughter was 5 months when I got pregnant with my son and now my kids will be 3 and 4 later this year and I'm about to have my 3rd. We wanted to knock them all out and not stop with diapers and then start up again. It's exhausting but it works for us.

I chose to have my first two 20 months apart and had mo issues with them.. Now with number 3 it's a five year gap from my youngest & I'm actually happy it turned out this way, they are both in elementary school and are fully independent. They will be completely hands on and helpful with their youngest sibling- which makes bringing a new baby into the mix much easier and stressfree

You can plan all you want but it doesn't always work out. We started trying for number 2 when my son was 2. He'll be nearly 5 when this baby is born. Sometimes infertility and other problems decide for you. Even if you're healthy it can take up to a year to conceive.

Take into account financial stand points,
My son and our daughter will be 3 years apart we had my son when we were 19 and 20 working hard and it was tough and now we are doing very well financially that I don't have to work anymore. You always want to provide for your family and not have anyone starve.  Mind you when we had my son we did not apply for state help or wic or any of those government assisted programs.  Just consider where you stand financially and if your boyfriend or husband can handle that I mean things happen as we all know :)

I say wait till atleast out of diapers.. Some of my friends seem to struggle a bit more with two in diapers compared to those who have one in diapers and one without diapers.. I didn't plan on having another one.. But my daughter will be 6 when I have her baby brother. :) my first thought with the age difference was I have to start all over. But I don't look at it that way anymore.. It's also a personal preference. Once the baby is born take another child for the day to see how you would handle it with different ages.
