Broke up w/ so because he drank too much. He promised to stop

And has been going to AA meetings and hasn't been drinking (I've been with him 24/7 to make sure). Does he seem like he's actually going to stop? I mean, he promised he would. And he's been living up to what he said finally. What are your thoughts??
