What is normal?

Can someone explain to me (without getting scary or getting me more worried than I should be) what exactly is normal spotting during a pregnancy? I've been told by many that it is normal. I'm just curious what normal is!? Lol

Not excessive like your period. More like pink or brown when you wipe. As long as it is not like when you have your period or is accompanied by cramps.

Brown spotting is normal, typically your body expelling old blood in the process of creating a healthy environment/home for baby to grow. Unless you begin to get severe cramping and heavy bleeding that can soak a heavy pad in an hour or less its generally said to be "normal".

I think everyone is different, I have had 2 miscarriages so am petrified of every little change. 
Preg again for the 3rd time and I have had light brown .. almost khaki (sorry for tmi) colour spotting since pretty much week 5 .. am 6 weeks today and doc says not to worry unless you have cramps or it turns red etc. 
It's not a lot but Def there. 
Apparently a lot of ppl have brownish spotting between weeks 5 and 7 as things start to move around and clear put old blood.
