Pain Killer/Epidural

My last pregnancy I received morphine but it wore off at 9 CM. I felt everything while pushing. It was painful but I could bare it. I'm really thinking about an epidural. I just can't get past a needle going into my back. I don't wanna do that pain over again I already know what it feels like! I don't wanna feel anything this time. What's your opinions on pain killers and epidurals?
