Baby Costs?

Hello everyone, this may be a tough question to answer, but for those who have children, how much does a baby costs? Anybody surprised by particular expensive purchase's or baby care? My husband and I were going to start ttc, but have decided to hold off for about 6 months to build a nest egg. Thoughts? Advice? Thanks!

The birthing prices alone cost us about $6000 with my insurance and my parent's insurance.

From when I found out til his due date I spent £3000 after he was born I averaged at £400+ per month and £500+ in childcare

Most of it was unnecessary

To do it again I'd probably spend half of that and go second hand instead of brand new - knowing how long things are actually used for. And the biggest expense was my mum going shopping and giving me the receipts to pay her back ~ shops I'd never go into designer boutiques and clothes he never had the chance to wear. I wouldn't have her around a second time

I have my daughter on state so when she was born I paid nothing for her due to having insurance . 
If you get wIC it saves you money on formula but If you don't breast feed or have wIC it can be little spends. 15 a thing. Diapers are to bad honestly 60 dollars for big box at Costco that should last over a month and half. 
If you work then day care cost unless you guys get a baby sitter/nanny and pay them minimum wage or something or have family to watch. Really depends on your situation
If you can stay home baby would be not costly at all
