Misoprostal (miscarriage) stories?

Hey ladies. I am currently going through my 3rd miscarriage. My baby stopped growing at 8 weeks. I'm curious if anyone has taken misoprostal (I might have spelled that wrong) to induce a miscarriage. My doctor asked if I wanted to miscarry naturally, take the meds, or a D&C. I chose the meds and I'm just looking for other experiences with it. Did it get everything out for you? Did you have cramping days later? Thanks!

I took it in December for miscarriage at 7 weeks. It was the best decision for me. I was afraid to do the surgery and going crazy just waiting for it to happen.  I took it on a Thursday night three hours before bed and told my boss I would be at home for Friday (she knew I was miscarrying).  I decided to take three ibprofen with the medication after reading stories on support forums. My doctor said if nothing happened within 12 hours, I should take another dose. I had some cramps and very, very light bleeding that stopped after I got up for the day, so I took the second dose Friday morning. I passed everything by 1pm that afternoon.  I was not in pain, but the bleeding got heavy. I spent a couple hours in the bathroom because it was just gush everytime I moved. I bleed for a week and a half afterwards. I had follow-up bloodwork to make sure the miscarriage had completed. I absolutely would take that route again and not opt for surgery because of the scar tissue risk.

I'm now on cycle day 4 of my first cycle since miscarriage.

My baby stopped growing at 6 weeks but I didn't find out until 12/28 when I would have been 12 weeks. I took the medication the next day and passed the baby after about 4 hours. I bled heavily for about 12 hours and ended up having to go to the ER. I think it's pretty uncommon, and it turned out nothing was wrong, just a lot of blood coming quickly. An ultrasound showed that everything had passed. There was a lot of clotting and gushes of blood. I bled lightly for 5 more days. I didn't take any of the vicodin they prescribed, but wish I had as the cramping was pretty painful. I'm so sorry for your loss and that you have to go through this process. I took the medicine for 5 days 
Day 3 was horrible worst pains of my life for hours 
Found out that I didn't pass what I needed to 
Have been bleeding and passing clots for a week
So now have to go through a dnc and think If I have to do it again I would go with the surgery to begin with 
The waiting game has been the worst

I did misoprostol with my first miscarriage. I did took it for two days and waited for my period to come back. When I got a positive pregnancy test three weeks later, the doctor found that I had some retained tissue. So I took another round (two days) and nothing. I ended up getting an MVA anyway. With my second I didn't want to deal with the possibility of having retained tissue so I just went for the MVA the first time. I'm sorry for your loss and good luck with everything.

I chose the medicine, and honestly it was probably the LEAST horrible thing about miscarrying. My doctor prescribed me pain meds to be taken in tandem with the drug, and it was painless and over within a few hours. I bled for about a week and a half afterwards, but it was medium to light. No cramping after, and no scar tissue or anything to worry about. I'm so sorry for your loss, and I wish you a quick recovery, both physically and emotionally.

My baby also stopped growing at 8 weeks on January 8th and I chose the pills because my OB said it would speed up the process. I had already started spotting. I passed the baby 4 hours after taking the first dose. The cramping wasn't terrible but my doctor gave me Vicodin for the pain so I had that on board. I had heavy bleeding for about 5 days and then it tapered off. I bled for a total of 9 days.  I had blood draws following this to ensure my hcg was back to 0 and that took three weeks. I'm still waiting on a period since my miscarriage.
