I've been thinking about using Ancestry.com or similar to do DNA testing on my family.  I am curious about our roots.  My family is a bit unclear.  Part of the family came from Eastern Europe in the early 1900s, but we can't locate records based on our last name. I suspect the name was changed because my great grandfather came over alone at age 13 and didn't speak the language. On my mom's side she tells me that we are part Native Amerian, but the courthouse that housed the records burned down. My SOs mom was adopted and her adopted mother would not give her birth moms name or even her race. I think it would be a great gift to give to both of our families. Has anyone else done this or want to? Costs? Thoughts? Maybe a better company. I've heard that Ancestry has some flaws.
