Baby girl named Eden?

Question

We are due in a week and a half! We have chosen the name Eden because we think it is strong and a beautiful name, and neither of us associate the name with religion. However, I have recently heard the name screams "bible thumper". Is it okay to use this name as an athiest, or should we try to find something else? We are running out of time and have no other names picked out that we like!

I do think it will always have a very close association to the biblical Eden. It's up to you whether you want people to make that assumption.

Personally I've considered the name Eve. She's the original rebel.  😉

If you love the name, use it. 
There are SO MANY names that have biblical roots, but context changes. Think about what the idea of an Eden means to you. To me, it is a beautiful, peaceful, untouched peice of nature. Not a magical garden full of tricksy snakes with apples.

I think Satan is a nice sounding name👌🏻 if I give the name to a child or pet Is still debatable though...

But I also like Eden. It's a very pretty name and if you like that name go for it!:) I know a gal called Eden. So I may be biased

My husband and I are agnostic and atheist, we are naming our son Noah. I love the name, despite the religious connotation. Honestly most names out there are religious in nature: Michael, Gabriel, David, John, Peter, ect... so if you like it, use it. Let people think what they want.

Abraham, Ethan, and Mary are also biblical names. They are just regular names. Name your kid whatever you like

It’s cute for a little girl and it’s a nice name for an adult woman to introduce herself with, that how I pick out names. I don’t think bible with Eden.

My neices name is Eden and my best friend baby is named Eden...neither of them have ever had anyone jump to religion. Most people just say it is a pretty name. Both are non religios so that had zero to do with the name..they both had other reasons for choosing Eden.
