Register for an infant seat and convertible seat?

Do most people register for both types of car seats so you have the bigger one when they need it? I am pregnant with twins and this will be our first!

We aren't adding that to our registry...i just feel we should buy stroller, car seat, and crib in my opinion. My mother is buying her own car seat considering she will babysit while I'm teaching but it is a baby shower gift since I was initially going to purchase two/another base. I would like my family and friends to focus on the smaller items...which many I might end up forgetting to buy!

I bought my own travel system and registered for an extra base and convertible car seat(to be able to save money later on). I got the travel system on sale and the other 2 things for my shower.

Personally my sister registered for a convertible car seat and brought my nephew home in it we never have used an infant seat for him.

Thanks everyone. We are not sure if we are going to add it yet or not. We probably will because we know anything left after the baby shower you get a discount on so we are going to register for stuff up to the first year even though we don't plan on family to buy a lot of it. We are going to buy the cribs before hand.

I'm having my third and never used an infant seat. We used rear facing convertible seats with appropriate weight limits for our kids. I hate carrying around that clunky thing. I prefer to baby wear. Much lighter and hands free when I'm out and about

I registered for both. I didn't think about it at first but my sister (who has twins) told me to register for everything, even things you will need later on. Worst case scenario, nobody gets it for you. I don't think it's a problem at all.

I've only registered for my travel system and later bought the convertible seat with all three of my children. And it was always discussed beforehand that the grandparents would purchase the travel system. We never want a friend or not immediate family member to feel like they should buy such an expensive item.
