Experienced moms: should I find out the gender for baby #1?

Question

I know everyone has their own preference about finding out the gender vs keeping it a surprise. But as this one is baby #1, what are your thoughts on finding out the gender? Yay or nay? If I want to have a surprise gender baby,  would it be better/worse, easier/more difficult to keep it a surprise for baby #1 vs another baby down the line?

My husband and I have never been able to stand the suspense! We have to know what we are having! Plus it makes it easier to plan. Like decorating the nursery, buying baby clothes, and picking a name. We have a son and a daughter now and I have saved all their baby things, so if we get pregnant again I have debated about not finding out since I have everything I would need. But we probably still will anyway! Lol! 😄

We waited to find out with our first and it was so exciting! It was super hard to wait, but it was worth hearing my hubby say "It's a girl!" It made the whole experience even more emotional. I'm not sure what we will do this time as I want to find out and my hubby doesn't!

A pro is that if you don't announce/know the sex is you are more likely to get useful stuff for your baby shower. People are less likely to just get you cutesy outfits if they don't know the sex.

We didn't find out for our first and we're both so happy that we didn't! We were planning on doing the same with this pregnancy, but decided to find out and we're happy with this decision as well. Our first is a girl and we're expecting a boy, so if we ever had another, we would choose to be surprised again :)

We did a early gender scan with our first and it's one of my favorite memories. My parents and brother were there and my husband watched over Skype. Finding out what your baby looks like at birth is enough of a surprise.

We waited to find out with our first and I really enjoyed that experience. There was something amazing in holding my baby for the first time and getting to know so much about her all with a glance. It's a girl, she has my nose, full head of hair, etc. we will be waiting to find out with this one as well.

It's a surprise either way!  Make it fun and have a gender reveal party!  Plus then you get to plan before the baby comes!
