With Mirena, your periods get lighter and can go away completely. That's a positive for me!

Paragard! It's non hormonal. It's literally a piece of plastic and some copper. And it lasts for 10 years (: I have it and love it.

I have the paraguard because I didn't want anything with hormones. It's nice having your natural cycle. I had pretty average periods before, nothing too bad. It will increase your bleeding/cramping for a little bit but I'm 5 months in and things are regulating pretty well. Also I would be really freaked out if I skipped periods. They're reassuring to me.

Any hormonal IUD has statistically proven to work better to prevent pregnancies if that is your main concern.

My only experience is with the Mirena and I highly recommend it. For me, it didn't hurt to have it put in (maybe because I had just had a baby). I haven't had a single period in the year I've had it, just some occasional spotting. I've never had pain with it.

I have the paragard I love it, it took about 4-5 months for my body to adjust to it. 
I have no cramping and a light period. And I get the satisfaction of knowing no hormones are being released into my system.

I had the Paragaurd and I hated it! It made my period so heavy! Now I have the mirena and my period is pretty much gone! I love the mirena!
