Has anyone went to couples therapy?!

Question

My bf and I have been together for 8 years off and on. Mostly on more than off. If we did break up it was a very short while. Anyways we've been having issues again. I mentioned couples therapy but I was wanting to know if anyone else has went wit their SO and did it help or make things worse?? I need input. No bashing. She have a 18 month old together as well.

I've been and it can be helpful, if you have a child together, I thinks you should try everything you can to make it work. It's worth a try

I have also been. I initially went for myself for the purpose of improving our marriage, and to overcome some other things as well. Long story short, my therapist suggested my has and come in with me for a few sessions. We decided to go separately one or two times before we had our first appointment together. I think it helped my husband out doing it that way, to kind of set a foundation. Every therapist is different, though (I know of some that don't let couples approach it that way, for instance), and it may take a few tries to find one you like. Don't get discouraged, though! Many offer free consultations which will help you get an idea of who they are and how they might help you.  If you and your SO are willing to try it to better your relationship, I say it's worth a shot.
