How do u know if your dilating?

I have been struggling with period pains and backache? I heard that it could be me dilating :-/

I walked around for 2 weeks at a 5cm before I went into active labor unless you have a bloody show or having contractions you can't walk or talk thru I wouldn't worry about it.  Cramping and back aches are very common in the third trimester and only get worse towards the end.  If you are concerned you can ask at your next appointment.

Most women don't know and can't tell when they dilate. And if you start to dilate it doesn't exactly mean that you're starting labor. Women can walk around for weeks dilated between 1-3cm before anything progresses.

Had a doctors appointment and my doctor said starting at 36 weeks they start to check for dilation and that is also when appoints become weekly as well. Hope that helps!
