Childcare, so expensive!!

Just did the math for a 2.5 year old and two babies to attend childcare for HALF A DAY and about had a heart attack!!! Why is quality care so outrageous!? I work part time so I can spend more time at home with the little one, but now with ther my paycheck will be going mainly for childcare, but can't afford to stop working all together, so frustrating!! I have until fall to figure it out but wish I had family close to help out...

I'm right there with you. I just had to quit my job bc childcare would take my whole paycheck for 3 kids. So depressing, I loved where I worked and I hated to lose a job I had been at for 8 years. It's ridiculous how much they charge considering they don't pay their employees well.

The day care here in ct I'm bringing the baby too will be 1400/month and that's for one bag full time. It's also one of the more affordable I could find. Most were around 1600-1800... It's literally paying for a second apartment. It's so stressful.

I'm in CT and mine is $1200 a month and we were so lucky to find something so cheap. But that's 15k a year! Crazy.

Honestly, sometimes it's easier and cheaper to hire a nanny when you have 2+ kids. I'm guessing 3 kids part time is about $450 per week?

Thanks for the tip!

I was a nanny for 12 years and I would look into hiring one! For part time you could easily find someone for less than that. I don't know what prices are in your area but it can range from $12-$20 per hour. If you find someone you trust within the lower range I'm guessing you could save $400 per mo.

Yeah, about 1600 a month, it's more than our mortgage 😳

I worked at a bank and literally half my check went to daycare every month. It's really depressing when you end up working for basically and extra 400-500$ a month.

I know, it's hard to decide what to do sometimes! We needed that extra, and when my son started school I told people it was like getting a raise lol.

That's how I feel too, but that 500 will pay for diapers and some groceries so it's hard to say goodbye to the job all together...
