So in my first trimester I asked my mother in law to come from out of state and stay for a while after the baby is born. It's the tradition in her family, she's excited to do it, I'm thrilled to have her here. My mother lived about 3 minutes away from me at the time. A few months later my mother decided to move out of town suddenly and now feels unwelcome when the baby comes because my mother in law is coming to stay with us. My sister says that I should have my mother in law change plans and come out at another time to accommodate my mom. I feel like it really shouldn't be that big of a deal. There are other family members here she can stay with since I don't have room for everyone or she can always come back and stay later if staying at my house is a big deal. I just think it would be rude to ask my mother in law to change the plans that we have had since the very beginning. Any advice?
