Vagina pain tolerance

So I know this sounds crazy, but could vaginal pain during first time sex have a correlation with child birth pain? For example, some of my friends say their first time didn't hurt so much. My first time hurt a lot. Could that mean child birth will hurt a lot more than it will to them?
