Breast feeding & Natural Birth??🤔

I'm a FTM and I have some decisions to make. I really want to try breast feeding, but it sounds so complicated. And I also want to have natural birth but I'm scared I've been told it's soooooo painful. Any suggestions?

I had a vaginal birth with an epidural and I am extremely happy I did because the placenta detached from the umbilical cord and the doctor literally had to go like elbow deep in me to get it out and I know that if I didn't have that epidural I would have been in tremendous pain. And my baby girl is only 4 days old but I am still trying very hard to get her to breastfeed feed she's having some latching difficulties so the lactation consultant told me to try a nipple shield and tonight will be my first night trying and I am praying it works!

I had a natural L&D without any pain intervention. It was a very difficult 19 hours and worth EVERY minute! If you are fully committed to going naturally, you can absolutely do it! It's been happening thousands of times a day for thousands of years.

I also BF for 13 months. BF *can* be difficult for some women, but please understand that most of what you read is from women who struggled. I had zero problem with it. Praise God! No pain, no chapped nipples, and plenty of supply. It wasn't complicated at all in my experience.

I plan on doing both of these things all over again in June.

My advice is this: NEVER let fear guide your decisions. If you want to try something, go for it! If it becomes unbearably difficult, reassess the situation and go from there. Hope this helps. Blessings!

Research research research breastfeeding! Twice I gave up because of things that were common because I didn't understand! Baby will
Nurse a LOT to get your supply up and don't be afraid to talk to a lactation consultant to get a good latch. I took a breastfeeding class and the information they gave me was contradictory to what the lactation consultant said. Once she explained how to get a good latch it was much more clear!

As far as a natural birth I'll tell you this- when it got to the point of being unbearable is when it was time to push. Afterwards I thought to myself how it wasn't bad at all, I had worked it up in my head. If you want to you CAN! If you want pain meds That's ok too! In the moment you'll know what's right for you

It's so worth anything you have in mind I've had two natural labor and deliveries no meds i breastfed my first until 11 months my second until 16 months both self weaned each experience was different both are memories I will treasure for ever and worth any and all self sacrifices any specific questions Id be happy to answer

If you want to do a natural birth I would definitely take a birthing class. I was unable to do a class because I was on bedrest and I did get the epidural which did not last and hardly worked on me but I truly feel if I would've done a class it would've been easy to do natural. As far as breastfeeding I would do a class before hand also. I just thought it would be so easy and that I would just see the lactation consultant and everything would be fine. Well my hospital was really busy and the lactation consultant never got to me he couldn't latch right so I just started pumping and now I exclusively pump.

You should try both. Try starting off with a natural birth and just see what happens. It's hard to plan it out because it really may not go the way you want. Then when the baby is here try breastfeeding and see if it works for you and your family. That's about the only thing you can do. If you needs meds during birth and don't end up breastfeeding, then it's ok. You will still be a great mom and your baby will be just fine 😉😉.  Don't feel pressured into anything. This is your pregnancy and you do what is best for you and your family. I had a natural birth and an epidural birth. I'm 36+3 with #3 and will be getting an epidural again if I'm able to. I didn't breastfeed with either of my kids and they are healthy 15 & 12 year olds. It just didn't work out for my life, so I didn't do it. I won't be breastfeeding with this baby either and I'm ok with that.
