Are copper cool IUDs effective?

My doctor said that they aren't as effective if you haven't already been pregnant but the pharmacist I spoke to when getting the ella pill said that the copper IUD is the most effective and she highly recommend it. Can anyone with some experience with implants/IUDs give me any advice?

I wouldn't base a question like this off of people's experiences, I would go do some researxhor yourself. Check out the manufacturers of different IUD brands, and jot down some info you feel is important. Then you can take it to your doc and ask them why they agree or don't agree with the info/science/studies you found.

They aren't 100% but my mirena has been keeping me safe from another kid for at least a year.
